A new analysis concludes that New Hampshire has the best healthcare system in the nation. The annual report produced by Wallet Hub evaluates states based on cost, access, and outcomes using 44 key indicators—including the number of urgent-care centers per capita that are certified by the Urgent Care Association. According to the report, New Hampshire has the most urgent care centers as well as the lowest average monthly health insurance premium ($469) and the second-lowest out-of-pocket medical spending in the country. Minnesota ranks as the second-best state for healthcare and has the highest number of convenient care clinics per capita.
Get in and get out: According to current statewide data from July 2024–June 2025, the median time a patient spends in a New Hampshire emergency department before being discharged is 126 minutes. It ranks among the top 10 states for emergency department throughput based on federal measures.
