Just as high flu activity has patients and providers on edge, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists(ASHP) is noting a drug shortage of some types of oseltamivir oral capsules and powders. Likewise, GoodRx data through January 20, 2026, shows a peak of oseltamivir fills in the last week of December 2025, followed by a more recent drop, possibly indicating that the medications could be in short supply and/or indicating fewer prescriptions overall. Federal agencies state that this shortage is related to local stock outs due to increased demand, according to ASHP. Chart information sourced exclusively by JUCM shows oseltamivir often ranks within the top 20 of all medication prescriptions written in urgent care.

Flu visits settling down: Newly updated Experity data through January 13, 2026, shows the 7-day flu positivity rates are at about 20% currently, down from a peak of more than 25% earlier in the respiratory virus season. Additionally, the 7-day rolling average of total of visits per center per day is currently more than 31, in close alignment with visit trends at this time last year.
