A study at the urgent care clinic of King Saud Medical City in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, found patients reported high overall satisfaction with their urgent care experience, as published in Cureus. More than 91% of patients said they were satisfied or very satisfied, and 93.5% said they would return for future care. Most patients (91.5%) were assessed within 30 minutes, including 65.5% seen within 15 minutes. Patients seen within 30 minutes were significantly more likely to report satisfaction (94.0% vs 64.7%) and willingness to return (95.6% vs 70.6%) compared with those waiting longer than 30 minutes. Additionally, more than 96% of patients said that their concerns were addressed and instructions were clear. However, only 64.0% said they received follow-up care information. Researchers evaluated patient satisfaction through a survey of 200 low-acuity adult patients who presented mainly with musculoskeletal and minor orthopedic complaints (25.5%), superficial soft-tissue injuries (17.5%), gastrointestinal complaints (17.0%), and respiratory complaints (13.5%).

Foundational growth: The Ministry of Health in Saudi Arabia is looking to standardize urgent care centers by defining operational pathways, staffing requirements, quality control measures, and service models, which reflects a broader national effort to expand urgent care, according to the authors.
