Harbor Health, a startup primary-care and specialty group that also offers individual and employer health plans, announced it is acquiring 32 clinics from VillageMD, which is now in the middle of a breakup as part of the $10 billion acquisition of Walgreens by Sycamore Partners. Some of the acquired VillageMD locations include those within Walgreens stores. Harbor Health grew from 3 clinic locations in 2022 to 11 clinics most recently, including 3 that offer extended hours and same-day appointments. With the acquisition, Harbor Health will expand its presence in the Texas market to 43 clinics, according to a press release.

Future growth: The company launched in September 2022 and eventually plans to expand outside of Texas with its provider and payer offerings. Additionally, Harbor Health recently raised $130 million in a series B round funding from investors. The value of this VillageMD transaction was not disclosed.
