Urgent care has made its mark on the U.S. healthcare system by offering high-quality care on a walk-in basis, with one of the guiding principles being that it’s an appropriate setting for any patient who is not experiencing life- or limb-threatening symptoms. That doesn’t mean patients with that level of complaint never walk through the door, however. Patients experiencing chest pain may be inclined to present to urgent care if it’s the closest healthcare facility, or if they’re not convinced the pain is “that serious.” Some will ultimately be diagnosed with acute coronary syndrome. The bottom line is, you and your staff have to be prepared. The Urgent Care Association is hosting a live webinar with that in mind. Evaluation of Chest Pain and the Urgent Care Management of Acute Coronary Syndrome will take place on Thursday, April 25, 1–2 pm, Central. By the end of the webinar, participants should be able to:

  • Identify the life-threatening causes of chest pain
  • Determine the population presenting with atypical chest pain
  • Recognize the unusual causes of the acute coronary syndrome
  • Describe how to rule out pulmonary embolism
  • Identify the life-threatening presentations of aortic dissection

Cost is $50 for UCA members and $100 for nonmembers. For more information and a link to register for the webinar, click here.
