A recent survey by WellNow Urgent Care across 5 states shows 90% of all adults are likely to consider going to an urgent care for minor medical emergencies or illnesses—highlighting urgent care’s convenience, after-hours care, and affordability. The survey also shows nearly two-thirds of mothers say cost is the primary factor influencing whether they seek care. Three-quarters of surveyed moms report using vacation days from work to attend medical appointments, and 57% say they have no access to their primary care provider after hours. For health concerns on weekends, 64% say they cannot reach their child’s pediatrician on Sundays. Additionally, 39% of families cut back on nonessential expenses such as entertainment to save money to pay for medical care, and 71% report they skip household bills such as rent, food, or utilities to pay for care.
Urgent care is where to go: According to the WellNow survey of more than 1,000 adults, 96% of moms report they are likely to consider accessing urgent care, and 80% say they use urgent care at least once a year when their children need care. And it’s important to note that women make the large majority of healthcare decisions for their families, according to the Department of Labor.
