Not surprisingly, seasonal influenza activity is increasing nationwide, primarily among children and young adults. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s most recent FluView dashboard reports a 5% rate of positivity for the week ending November 22, 2025, up from 2.9% the week before. Overall, activity is low, however, of the influenza A cases subtyped, H3N2 accounted for 82.3% of them. There is some concern over a variant of H3N2 called subclade K, which is emerging in the Northern Hemisphere this season and may be a mismatch with the current flu vaccine. Some 3,265 patients were admitted to hospitals during the week for flu-related illness.
Respiratory viruses in urgent care: Up-to-date Experity data shows that as of December 1, 2025, the 7-day lab positivity average in urgent care centers across the country was 12% and trending on an upward slope. Meanwhile, the late summer surge of COVID-19, which peaked in late August, finally leveled out by the end of October and now hovers around 4%.
