Piedmont Urgent Care has announced 2 separate expansions of its network this month. First, it acquired 4 MedPlus Immediate Care locations in the central Georgia region. With the addition of the Dublin, Eastman, Milledgeville and Macon, Georgia, centers, Piedmont now operates 6 urgent care centers with growth plans for the future, according to a press release. The branding at the centers will transition from MedPlus Immediate Care to Piedmont Urgent Care by the end of August. Second, Piedmont also opened a new Piedmont QuickCare location inside of a Walmart store in Columbus, Georgia—its first Walmart partnership, according to a press release. More than 2 dozen other QuickCare centers offer services within Walgreens retail pharmacies and as standalone centers.Â
Joint venture: In 2014, WellStreet Urgent Care teamed up with Piedmont Healthcare to launch urgent care centers and has grown the joint venture largely through acquisitions. It also has partnerships with University Hospitals in Ohio, Corewell Health in Michigan, and Prisma Health in South Carolina, according to its website. WellStreet is an investment under FFL Partners, and the urgent care segment continues to see growth in private-equity-backed hospital/urgent care entities.
